Ascended Heroes is the first special expansion set of the Mega Evolution series. It was revealed on November 20th 2025 and releases over a period of time starting 30th January 2026.
What was revealed about Ascended Heroes?
It was revealed that Mega Pokémon would continue to feature and that this set would include Trainer’s Pokémon and Mega evolution Pokémon ex. In addition a new card rarity will be introduced – Mega Attack Rare.
The reveal description states:
Inspired by the recently launched Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game, Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes will welcome new characters and locations to the Pokémon TCG. Trainers can look forward to discovering cards featuring new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex — including Mega Dragonite ex — and Trainer’s Pokémon. In addition, players will encounter returning fan-favorite Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and Trainer’s Pokémon that appear in Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes with new illustrations.
Furthermore, Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes will introduce an all-new card rarity: Mega attack rare, which features attack names in Japanese katakana, as originally revealed during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships in August 2025.

33 illustration rare Pokemon
14 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, Pokemon ex, and Trainer cards
7 Mega attack rare Mega Evolution Pokemon ex
22 special illustration rare Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, Pokemon ex, and Supporter cards

The artwork for the set Booster Packs has been revealed. As with all Special expansion sets there is just one design. Mega Dragonite takes centre spot surrounded by Charizard Y, Mewtwo, Stellar type Pikachu and Lucario
