The Pokémon Black Bolt & White Flare expansion has been officially revealed with a release date of 18th July 2025. It is the fifth special expansion set of the Generation IX Series and is designated SV10.5. This set is also the first dual set to be released internationally.
What do we know so far about Black Bolt, White Flare?
This set will include cards from the Japanese dual set of the same name and will feature all 156 Generation V Pokémon of the Unova region. These Pokémon debuted with the release of the Black and White series in 2010.
The set description states:
Split between the Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare expansions, players can look forward to collecting cards featuring the 156 Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region. In addition, each Unova Pokémon will appear as an illustration rare or special illustration rare style card found in either Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare associated products.
Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt will feature the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom, while Scarlet & Violet—White Flare will feature the Legendary Pokémon Reshiram. Each expansion will include three different parallel foil sets, two of which will feature either a rainbow Poké Ball or Master Ball pattern shimmering across the card. Furthermore, players can look forward to collecting new cards with features last seen in the Black & White Series, including cards that will feature a nostalgic foil pattern and Basic Energy cards featuring the original Black & White Series designs.
Black Bolt & White Flare will be released as two separate sets each with its own logo and set symbol. Each set will include:

8 Ultra Rare cards
One Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare card for each Unova Pokémon
One Special Illustration Supporter card
Two Black/White Rare monochrome cards
Cards for both sets will be numbered – ??/086
Cards will be marked with the set icons
Pokémon Black Bolt & White Flare Pack Art
The artwork for the set Booster Packs has been revealed. There are 2 different designs, one for each set. The Black Flare booster packs feature Zekrom while the White Flare booster packs feature Reshiram.
Will Black Bolt & White Flare include Owner’s Pokémon?
Owner’s Pokémon saw a return to the TCG with the release of the Journey Together set, they continued through the Destined Rivals set. This dual set will not feature Owner’s Pokémon, rather it will focus on the Generation V, Unova region Pokémon.
