Lotad is a Water / Grass type Pokémon that first appeared in the game Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire which released in Japan on November 21st 2002.
Lotad is a small six-legged character that is most likely based on a combination of a lily pad and a Kappa – a creature from Japanese Folklore. It has a blue head and body with a yellow bill. On its head is a large green disc that resembles a lily pad. It searches about for clean water. If it does not drink water for too long, the leaf on its head wilts.
