Collector Chest History
The first Pokémon Collector Chest, also known as the Treasure tin, was released in November 2014. The metal lunchbox style tin featured Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre on the front. Further chests followed in the Autumn of 2015 and 2016 and from 2017 onwards two Collector Chest products were released each year, one in the Spring and one in the Autumn.
Early in 2022 Pokémon announced the March 2022 release of a new product – the Pokémon Collector Bundle Spring 2022. At the time there was no announcement of a Spring 2022 Pokémon Collector Chest. Furthermore as the contents of this new product were virtually identical to the products generally found in a Pokémon Collector Chest there was much speculation that the Collector Bundle was set to replace the Collector Chest.
Others believed that the Collector Bundle was a one-off product due to a lack of raw materials or other supply problems. Many people believed that if the Pokémon Collector Chest was a thing of the past, then all those previously produced would become highly collectible and would drastically increase in value. Some collectors began buying up Collector Chests.
As it happened, the Collector Bundle of 2022 was released alongside a Spring Collector Chest putting an end to the speculation. The Bundle was not particularly popular and a Collector Chests returned to being released twice a year
