Poliwhirl is a Water type Pokémon that first appeared in the games Pokémon Red and Blue which released in Japan on 12th September 1999. It evolves from Poliwag and evolves to Poliwrath or Politoed.

Poliwhirl is a two-legged Pokémon that is based on a tadpole. Tadpoles have translucent bodies and their coiled intestines are visible. It has a rounded body with two frog-like eyes. It is blue apart from its hands and the front of its body which are white. A dark blue spiral can be seen on its white stomach. Staring at the swirl on its belly causes drowsiness. This trait of Poliwhirl’s has been used in place of lullabies to get children to go to sleep.
