Baby Pokémon were first introduced in the Generation II games, Pokémon Gold and Silver, when the ability to breed Pokémon was also introduced. They have subsequently been included in the Ruby and Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl and Sword and Shield series.
Baby Pokémon are pre-evolution versions of basic Pokémon and can only be obtained through breeding. With the exception of Toxel, all have been introduced later than their fully evolved forms. They are small, cute-looking versions of their evolved form and much loved by the Pokémon community.
