What are Paldean Pokémon? Info & Complete List

There are currently 3 Paldean Pokémon.

Paldean Pokémon are Pokémon that take on a different form when they appear in the Paldea region. Paldea is based on Spain and is the setting for the Generation IX Scarlet and Violet series. These Pokémon are special because they have adapted to the Paldea region and can use powers typically associated with Paldea. 

 

What is the Paldea Region?

The Paldea Region is the setting for the Generation IX Scarlet and violet series and is based on the Iberian Peninsula which includes Spain, Portugal and Andorra. It is divided into 4 regions – North Province, South Province, East Province and West Province.

Tauros Pokédex Number 0128

Tauros and Paldean Tauros - Paldean Pokémon

Tauros is a Generation I Pokémon that first appeared in 1996 with the launch of Pokémon Red and Blue in Japan. It is a Normal type Pokémon that is brown in colour with a black mane. It has three Paldean forms. In Paldean Combat Breed it is grey with a black mane and head and is a Fighting type. Paldean Blaze Breed is similar in form to Paldean Combat Breed but has red streaks through its mane and is a dual Fighting / Fire type. Paldean Aqua Breed is also grey and black but has blue markings in its mane and is a Fighting / Water type.

Wooper and Paldean Wooper

Wooper is a Generation II Pokémon that first appeared in 1999 with the launch of Pokémon Gold and Silver in Japan. It is a Water / Ground type Pokémon and is predominantly blue in colour. In Paldean form it becomes a Poison / Ground type and it is brown in colour. After losing a territorial struggle, Wooper began living on land. The Pokémon changed over time, developing a poisonous film to protect its body. Paldean Wooper evolves to Clodsire.

Clodsire

Clodsire evolves from Paldean Wooper.  Clodsire is a Generation IX Pokémon that first appeared in November 2022 with the launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is a Poison / Ground type Pokémon.

Because Clodsire did not appear in any earlier Generations, and only exists when it evolves from Paldean Wooper, it can only be Paldean form.
