Ghost Type Pokémon in the TCG

While there are 18 different Pokémon types in the Pokédex and Video Game series, in the Trading Card Game (TCG) there are only 11 different Pokémon types. This means that in the TCG some categories contain more than one of the Game Pokémon types.

Ghost Type Pokémon are currently included with Psychic Type in the TCG. From 2007 – 2019 Poison type Pokémon were also included in this group.

The Trading Cards for these Pokémon have the Psychic symbol in the top right-hand corner, next to the HP.

087/182 Gimmighoul

To use the Corkscrew Punch attack associated with this card, the player must attach two Colorless Energy cards – which can be any type of Basic Energy Cards. When deciding which cards to include in a deck, players should be aware of the qualities and requirements of their chosen Pokémon cards.

At the bottom of the card is detailed information about that card’s weakness, resistance and retreat cost.

In the TCG, Ghost / Psychic type Pokémon generally have a weakness to Dark types. The Gimmighoul card shows this weakness to Dark type Pokémon and attacks from these types do double damage.

Ghost / Psychic type Pokémon cards are resistant to attacks by Fighting type Pokémon and the HP damage from these types maybe reduced. The Gimmighoul card shows that the HP damage is reduced by 30.
