Pokémon Obsidian Flames is the third expansion set of the Scarlet and Violet Series. This set sees the introduction of terastalized Pokémon cards which are a different type to their regular form, and these cards feature heavily in our top 10 Obsidian Flames Chase Cards.
What are Chase Cards?
Chase cards are rare cards that have a 1/100 or less chance of being inside a booster pack. Previously, they have generally been one of the ultra rare or secret rare cards from an expansion set. However, the rarity specification for cards changed for the Scarlet and Violet series. Chase cards are now highly likely to be the Illustrator Rare, Special Illustration Rare and Hyper Rare cards. Where a set features the popular Pokémon Charizard, these cards tend to feature in the top 10 most desired cards.

8. Poppy 227/197
Scarlet and Violet Trainer Poppy takes our number 8 spot. The card shows Poppy fast asleep on her preferred Pokémon, Copperajah. On the day before release this card is available for purchase on Ebay UK for around £15 and Ebay.com for around $20.
7. Geeta 226/197
Trainer Supporter Geeta is a is a Special Illustration Rare card that features the Scarlet and Violet Top Champion sitting on steps flicking through a book. Today, 10th August 2023, it can be purchased on Ebay UK for around £20 and on Ebay.com for around $25.
6. Pidgeot ex – 225/197
Pidgeot ex is a Special Illustration Rare card, that depicts the popular Generation I Pokémon in full flight over a coastal landscape. Its simple, yet pleasing artwork gives it 5th spot in our list. On the day before set release it is selling for around £25 on Ebay UK and $20 on Ebay.com.
5. Charizard ex 125/197
Double Rare Charizard ex is the first Charizard card in our top 10 Obsidian Flames Chase Cards list and the only card that forms part of the main set. It is a half art card that shows terastalized Charizard breaking out of the top section of the card. It can be purchased today (10th August 2023) for around £25 on Ebay UK and on Ebay.com for $27.
4. Tyranitar ex 211/197
Fourth spot goes to terastalized Tyranitar ex 211/197. This popular Pokémon, normally a Rock / Dark type is an Electric type when in Tera form. It is shown against a shiny white background studded with gold stars. The day before release this card is available for purchase on Ebay UK for around £40 and Ebay.com for around $25.
3. Charizard ex 215/197
This Ultra Rare card is the first Charizard card to make our top 10 Obsidian Flames Chase Cards list. Terastalized Charizard takes center stage against a shiny pale background punctuated with stars. This card is selling for £40 on Ebay UK for around $40 and Ebay.com on the day before set release.
2. Charizard ex – 228/197
Charizard ex 228/197 is our second place Chase Card. This Gold Hyper Rare card depicts Charizard in terastalized form against a gold background. In terastalized form Charizard is a Dark type Pokémon and has a huge 330 HP, making it a popular card with collectors and players alike. The card can be purchased today, 10th August 2023 on Ebay UK for around £50 and Ebay.com for around $65.
1. Charizard ex – 223/197
Charizard ex 223/197, a special Illustration Rare card takes the top spot on our Top 10 Obsidian Flames Chase Cards. The card depicts terastalized Charizard as a Dark type Pokémon rather than a Fire type. The day before set release it is selling on Ebay UK for around £130 and Ebay.com for around $110.
LOL top 10 Obsidean Flames Chase Cards… There is only 30 cards in the Gallery.. There is only 4 Chase cards.. and they are all Charzard of course Alt Art Charazard is the Chase card the other 3 fall in second.

They are generally Illustrator Rare, Special Illustration Rare and Hyper Rare cards and for this set the four Charizard cards do indeed feature at the top of the list.
